Rock and I

I was a click away from uploading a home video which sees me giving the performance of my life…singing Bon Jovi’s This ain’t a love song; going one on one with Richie Sambora on his solo with my imaginary guitar. Then I thought no. I will surely be judged (laughs).
I have a friend that, now as I’m writing this piece I’m starting to miss so much. We had days where we sat and listened to Rock music. We’d forgot to eat; it would be classic after classic, followed by a few from our generation. ‘Sweet Child ‘o Mine’, ‘Don’t cry’, Knocking on heaven’s door’ by Guns n Roses, ‘Feels like Teen Spirit’, ‘You know you’re alright’ by Nirvana, ‘My Sacrifice’, ‘One’, ‘Weathered’, ‘One last breath’ by Creed are just a few songs that are not just songs to me. They are experiences. My friend Nel and Iwould swing our heads all around the room and jump up and down like 3 year olds totally glucose driven. My other best friends in this genre of music are my dada (my dad) and Candice. Dad fed me Bruce Springsteen, U2, Simple Minds, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits (to name a few) while mom worried about the temperature for my next bottle. He chose Rock music for my ears before I could understand it and love it as much as he did to choose it for myself.
I remember when I started listening to Rock music by myself. I remember how it made me feel invincible…and I’m pretty certain that it will sound crazy when I say this but half the time ‘Higher’ by Creed made me feel like I could fly.
